Through the Standard IEC 62423 the technical features of B types RCCBs and RCBOs have been regulated on International basis.
The use of electronic equipments in electrical installations is constantly increasing and these, in the event of a fault, may generate smooth DC currents and high frequency AC residual currents; these will not be detected by a Standard type A residual current device. This is the reason type B protection devices should be used especially for these applications.
B types RCCBs / RCBOs are suggested for a wide range of applications: photovoltaic installations, UPS, medical-technical applications (TAC), building sites with cranes, laboratory equipment, mechanical workshops with numeric control machineries, elevators, welding equipment, etc.
